While working for a news agency in 2004, I travelled to Iraq, spending the majority of my time in focusing on the Al-Mahdi Militia in the Sadr City neighborhood of Baghdad. I was, also, able to travel to Najaf to cover the Battle of Najaf between US and Iraqi forces and the Islamist Mahdi Army.
